Purpose of meeting
Discuss Lab Proposal

1. Backdrop. 14 of 20 computers ordered are now in Room 25. Daryl has set them up, including use of Norton Ghost (for easy recloning). However, the full set of software and system settings are not yet in place. Teachers have already begun to use the computers in their classes. Note that the machines were purchased using CBET and Federal Block Grant funds; the lab is open for CBET as well as ESL use.

3. Training. We need a commitment for time & money to pay for staff training on the system and software. Most importantly, we need a teacher or staff person whose job is to integrate computers into the classroom curriculum. Near-term, we'll need specific hands-on training so that teachers are able to use basic Windows 2000 features, and so that Coordinators can use Norton Ghost and necessary, more advanced Windows 2000 features.
4. Software evaluation. We agreed that before any new software can be installed on Lab computers, it must be evaluated and approved (both for educational usefulness and technical merit) under sponsorship of the Technology Committee. Therefore, sponsors of new software should plan at least a month in advance of need.

Carolynn will check into availability of a District site license for Office 2000 Pro.
